History

The name Apple Treet Flat derives fromt he numerous Angophora or "apple trees" which grew around the area as indicated by botanist Allan Cunningham in the early 1800's.

The original Aboriginal inhabitants of this area were the Wiradjuri people. In the Mudgee area lived the Mowgee clan who spoke the Wiradjuri dialect. Their area extended up to a 50km radius including the Apple Tree Flat region. The Mowgee women's totem is the wedgetail eagle (Mullian) and the men's totem is the crow (Waggan).

Mudgee is well known for it's GOLD still to be found today.
